J.B. McNeely, Jr.

J. B. McNeely, Jr., 87, of Valdese, NC passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018.  Born September 15, 1930 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late James Burgin McNeely and Bonnie Baker McNeely.

Mr. McNeely was a member of Drexel First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was a Christian family man and loved the beach.  He retired from Drexel Heritage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Avis Rector McNeely; son, Tracy James McNeely; brothers, Bobby, Bill, and Charles B. McNeely; and sisters, Wilma McNeely Wright and Sue McNeely Setzer.

Mr. McNeely is survived by his daughter, Jamie McNeely of Morganton; brother, Gerald McNeely and wife, Gaynell of Spartanburg, SC; and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Monday, August 13 at Drexel First Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Michael Duncan officiating.  Burial will follow at Drexel Memorial Park with military honors provided by United States Air Force.
