Jean Doman Anderson

Jean Doman Anderson, 80, of Morganton, NC died Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Cumberland, MD on July 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Doman and Edna Brock Doman. Jean was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was active in the Ladies’ Guild. She graduated from Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD and worked in labor and delivery and assisted with hundreds of births. Jean retired from Grace Hospital and volunteered with Burke Hospice and Palliative Care for several years.Jean is survived by her sons, Charles Anderson and his wife, Cathy, of Norman, OK and the Rev. Kenneth Anderson and his wife, Wanda, of Spruce Pine, NC; a daughter, Laura Sias of Concord, NC; sisters, Lee Callahan of Jacksonville, NC and Shirley Lemmert of Frostburg, MD; and grandchildren, Lisa, Deborah, and Thomas Anderson and Alex, Emily, and Olivia Sias.In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Anderson; a daughter, Susan Anderson; a brother, Ray Doman; and a sister, Inez Eirich.The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. Kenneth Whittington officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rosary will be said Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. followed by the visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690 or to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 728 West Union Street, Morganton, NC 28655.
