Jean Marie Hudson Wellman

Jean Marie Hudson Wellman, 75, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Burke County, NC on March 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lemmie Hudson and Velvie Christine Chapman Hudson. Jean was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. She worked at the Jamestown Flea Market where she sold produce and her home-made Chow-Chow.A beloved mother and grandmother, Jean is survived by her children, Daniel Chapman, Sr., and wife, Vickie, of Morganton, Brenda Ann Chapman of Morganton, Donald Eugene Chapman, Sr., of Lenoir, NC, and Linda Marie McLean of Florida; grandchildren, Daniel Chapman, Jr., Rebecca Belton, Tamara Beam, Donald Chapman, Jr., Deriek Chapman, Jenny McLean, and Jessica Chapman; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Hudson of Morganton; sisters, Edna Mae Tilley and Catherine Clark, both of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Wellman; brothers, Vernon, James, and Billy Ray Hudson; and a granddaughter, Chastity Dawn Chapman.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Silver Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
