Jean Northington Seaver

Jean Northington Seaver, 80, of Grace Ridge, Morganton, NC died Thursday, July 16, 2009 following a period of declining health. Born in Doylestown, PA on March 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Northington and Ethel Wiser Northington. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John "Jack" VanVliet Seaver, and brothers, William, Donald, and Neil Northington.Jean and Jack raised their family in Alexandria, VA. They retired to Williamsburg, VA and later moved to Morganton to be near family. Jean volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. She took special joy in watching her grandchildren grow up.Jean is survived by her children, Joan Seaver Forrest and husband, Robert, of Charlottesville, VA, Craig V. Seaver and wife, Ling, of Allen, TX, and Leanne Seaver Avery and husband, John, of Morganton; grandchildren, John Forrest, Madeleine Forrest, Jenna Avery, Evan Avery, Connor Seaver, and Keira Seaver; a brother, Henry Northington of Woodstock, GA; and a sister, Nan Brey of Sun City West, AZ.The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Faith Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Thompson officiating. A private graveside service will be held prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Grace Ridge Mezzanine.
