Jean Pruett Garrison

Jean Pruett Garrison, 76, of Morganton went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on March 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William Floyd Pruett and Candace Estelle Carswell Pruett. Jean was a very active member of First United Methodist Church.She was a 1954 graduate of Valdese High School. A registered nurse, she retired in1998 from Broughton Hospital after 17 years. Jean had also worked as an R.N. at Valdese Hospital, Western Carolina Center, and Grace Hospital and was a former employee of Hardwoods of Morganton.Jean is survived by her son, Richard "Byrd" Garrison of Morganton; brothers, Ray Pruett and wife, Betty, of Lenoir, NC and Roy Pruett and wife, Lou, of Belmont, NC; sisters, Mary Lou Whisnant and husband, Ted, and Durlene Secrest and husband, William, all of Drexel, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lucius "Sonny" Garrison, Jr.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Reverends Don Shuman, Todd McCullough, William McIntosh, and Jim Taber officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
