Jennie Lorine Self

Jennie Lorine Self, 95, of Secrest St. in Morganton died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born April 3, 1914 in Cleveland County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Edward McDaniels and Sarah Canipe McDaniels. Jennie was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.She is survived by children, Edward Eugene Self and wife, Peggy, James W. Self and wife, Jewell, Mary Ellen Marcus, Mildred Thames, and Patsy Ann Self Stamey, all of Morganton; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Caldwell Self; and a son, Ben Self.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Dewey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
