Jerry Allen Fox, 73, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born on August 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Dallas Andrew Fox and Pansy Viola Fox. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Fox.
Born in the mountains of Avery County, he moved to Morganton as a young man. He worked hard all of his life as a skilled builder, remodel professional, wallpaper hanger, and painter. He was an avid gardener who loved horses, horseback riding, and his dogs. A lover of the outdoors, he never missed an opportunity to fish and camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife, Lee, and his most faithful dog, Lizzy, by his side.
He will be remembered as a loyal, giving, and kind-heart friend and husband. He was a man who kept a positive outlook and sense of humor during challenges and struggles. His can-do attitude inspired all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lee Childress Fox; sisters, Shirley Owens, Vivian Cantor (Bobby), Diana Ross (William), and Doris Makin (Mark); brother-in-law, Wade Childress, III; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. on January 30, 2021. Please wear masks to protect one another.
