Jerry "J.J." Brooks

Jerry “J.J.” Brooks, 69, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. He was born in Burke County, NC on August 9, 1947 and was the son of the late Charles Rufus Brooks and Ethel Florence Barnwell Brooks. Jerry was a member of North Catawba Baptist Church and attended Conway Baptist Church. Jerry was a hard worker and was retired from KRG Utility, Inc. He loved his children and his wife of 48 years, JoAnn McCall Brooks.
In addition to his wife he is survived by sons, Jerry Ashley Brooks and wife, Crystal, and Wesley Alan Brooks; brother, Johnny W. Brooks and wife, Nancy all of Gamewell; sister, Charlotte Greene of Hudson; several nieces and nephews; and eight canine grandchildren and his little cat.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Conway's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverends Steve Curtis and Marvin Ford officiating.
