Jerry W. Rogers

Jerry W. Rogers, 65, of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 29, 1951, he was the son of Jimmy Rogers, Jr. and Virginia Ruth Branch Rogers.  Jerry attended several local Baptist churches.  Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from Causby Buick with 30 years of service.  He loved to fish, cook, and play on his computer.

A loving son, husband, and father, Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon Pearson Rogers of the home; a son, Gregg Allen Rogers of Morganton; a daughter, Kelley Ann Rogers; grandchildren, Hayden, Trever, Noah, and Darious Rogers, Alexa Proctor, and Braydn Burleson; brothers, James Rogers and wife, Patsy, and Tim Rogers and fiancée, Lisa Higgins, all of Morganton; sisters, Carolyn Garrison and Margaret Phillips and husband, Jimmy; his mother-in-law, Marian P. McNeilly; sisters-in-law, Reggie Frady and husband, Jim, and Eva McNeilly; and his canine companions.

Jerry was preceded in death by a son, John K. Rogers; and his grandmother, Lillian Branch.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Silver Creek Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at the church at 3pm with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
