Jesse Carl Tallent

Jesse Carl Tallent, 84, of Morganton died Saturday, November 8, 2014. He was born March 12, 1930 in Burke County, NC to the late Cornelius Tallent and Alma Houston Tallent. Jesse was retired from Drexel Furniture after 43 years. He was an active member of Brookwood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Jesse was a loving husband, dad, pop and pap paw and a man that was devoted to God and family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Frances Smith Tallent, whom with he just celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary on November 4; son, Ricky Tallent; daughter, Vickie Curtis and husband, Buren Allen Curtis, Jr. all of Morganton; grandchildren, Lance Steven Tallent, Eric Christopher Tallent, Melissa Marie Curtis and Julia Renee Curtis Gowan; great-grandchildren, Korey Alexander Curtis, Kendra Renee Austin and Jetten Carter Tallent.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Brookwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where the body will remain until 30 minutes prior to the service.
