Jesse Olston Gibson

Jesse Olston Gibson, 77, of Connelly Road, Morganton, NC died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Grace Hospital. Born in Mitchell County, NC on June 18, 1932, he was the son of the late Lee and Syvilla Cole Gibson. Jesse was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer for The Outreach Center. He worked as a barber in Winston-Salem, Black Mountain, and Morganton and had worked as a security guard at Morganton Dye and Finishing. He was an avid fisherman.Jesse is survived by his children, Larry Buchanan, Jesse L. Buchanan and, Donna Gibson and their mother, Mimi Judith Ollis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Toney Gibson of Pineola, NC, Lawrence "Roy Lee" Gibson of Morganton, and Johnny Gibson of Moyck, NC; and a sister, Faith Lacey of Newland, NC.In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Gibson Calhoun.A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.
