Jessie Mills Greene

Jessie Mills Greene, 90, died Monday, April 16, 2012. She was born in Burke County, NC on February 19, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Zeb William Mills and Hattie Gurley Mills. Mrs. Greene was a member of Asheville Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the WMU. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlepoint, and quilting.Mrs. Green is survived by her husband of sixty years, Arlis H. Greene; son, Leonard S. Greene and his wife, Diana of Morganton; daughters, Judy Alexander and her husband, Lynn, of Drexel, Kathy Powell and her husband, Danny, of Morganton, and Margaret Hill and her husband, Skip, of Old Fort; brother, David Mills of Drexel; sisters, Louise Brinkley of Drexel, Vernie Keller and Sarah Fletcher both of Morganton, and Oris Page of Valdese; grandchildren, Adam Feimster and his wife, Cristy, of Rockwall, TX, David Greene and Heather Greene both of Morganton, Drew Powell of Mooresville, and Ryan Alexander, Sonya Powell and Sara Alexander all of Drexel; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Holliday.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Asheville Street Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Goforth officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church on Dysartsville Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
