Jessie Tyler "Jet" Norton

Jessie Tyler "Jet" Norton, 17 of Rabbit Ridge Rd., Morganton, NC died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Grace Hospital as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident which also took the life of his cousin, Brandon Thomas. Born April 6, 1992 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of Jessie J. and Christy Johnson Norton of the home. Jet was a student at Freedom High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. He loved playing in the mud, talking on his cell phone, and working on building projects. He was a member of Muddy Creek Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, Jet is survived by brothers, Zachery Norton and his wife, Tabitha of Rhodhiss, Aron, Nicholas, and Max Norton all of the home; a sister, Amanda Waycaster and her husband, Joshua of Morganton; maternal grandparents, Carson and Katherine Johnson of Valdese; paternal grandparents, Andy and Iva Norton of Morganton; and a number of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nephews, and Nieces.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Muddy Creek Baptist Church with the Reverends Daniel McMahan, Kenneth Shew, and Billy Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. At other times the family will be at the home, 3183 Rabbit Ridge Rd., Morganton, NC. In order to assist with funeral expenses, memorial gifts may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home.
