Jimmie G. Bishop

Jimmie G. Bishop, 73, of Morganton, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and beloved friend to many, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born in Coffee County, AL on April 12, 1941 and was a son of the late Garvey G. and Eva Del Bolling Bishop. Jim was a friend to all. He was a retired truck driver and helped anyone he could. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time with friends and neighbors. His grin will be missed by many, but his memory will live on. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Janice Buckner Bishop; by a grandson, Daniel Bradley; and by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are his children, Jimmy Wayne Bishop and his wife, Sheila, Cecil Ray Bishop and his wife, Heather, Timothy Allen Bishop, Lisa Ruth Bradley all of Morganton, and Sheila Del Bishop of Hickory; a brother, Ernest Bishop of Apopka, FL; grandchildren, James, Melissa, Cassandra, Cecil II, Tabitha, Sabrina, Timmy, Danielle, Whitney, Jodie, and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Lilly, Cody, Reid, Faith, Devin, Porsche, Gabriel, Shyenne, Ava, Lane, and Brad.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Rocky Reese and Rev. Dan Qurollo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
