Jimmie "Jim" L. Lackey

Jimmie "Jim" L. Lackey, 75, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 following a period of declining health. He was born in Caldwell County on October 7, 1936 and was a son of the late Fred Lee Lackey and Zetta Clark Lackey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Lackey. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting and trout fishing, and he was a huge NASCAR fan.Surviving are his wife, Karen Kay Bivens Lackey; children, Ricki Lee Lackey, Cynthia Castillo and husband, Miguel, Gregory Bennett Lackey, Angie Carswell and husband, Doug, and Kenny Smith and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Nicholas Lackey, Caitlin Lackey, Digna Castillo, Lauryl Lackey, Lee Lackey, Jeremy Carswell, Travis Carswell, Haley Smith, Brittney Witmer, Brandi Morgan, and Nicholas Franklin; and one great-grandchild, Ralph ?Trace? Wilson III. Also surviving are brothers, Ted, Jack, Larry, Danny, and Tony Lackey and sisters, Lynn Whisenant, Linda Whisnant, and Sylvia Clark.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
