Jimmy Henson, Jr., 71, of 101 Scott St., Glen Alpine, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 20, 2006, following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County on March 12, 1935 and was a son of the late James Henson and Fannie Bell Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walt Henson. Jimmy was a long time member of Morganton Wesleyan Church where he held many church positions. Jimmy Retired from Martin Family Ford-Lincoln-Mercury where he supervised the detail/clean-up shop for many years.
Mr. Henson is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Duckworth Henson, of the home; a son Wendal Henson and wife, Lisa, of Morganton, daughters, Angie Swink and husband, Paul, and Ginger Parker and husband, David, all of Glen Alpine; grandchildren, Clay Henson, Courtney Swink, and Bella Henson; step-grandchildren, Tim Swink and wife, April, Tyler Swink, and Abby Swink; a brother, Arthur Henson and wife, Evelyn, of Morganton; a sister, Betty Sigmon of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with Reverends Dean Lavender and Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence, 101 Scott St., Glen Alpine. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
