Jimmy R. Duckworth, 83, of Morganton went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on October 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Willard Kermit Duckworth and Thelma LeFevers Duckworth. Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company with over 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and would go as often as his wife would allow. He was a quiet man who treated everyone equally and was loved by all who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Faye Watts Duckworth of the home; children, Lisa D. Landers (Chris) and Tommy Duckworth, both of Morganton; grandchildren, John Landers, Sarah Landers, and Karson Duckworth; a sister, Betty Duckworth Cook (Earl) of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by an infant sister.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. in the church with Revs. Shawn Thomas, Earl Cross, and Ernie Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the NC National Guard.
