Joe Arney

Joe Arney, 66, of West Concord Street, Morganton, NC died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born in Burke County, NC on April 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Earl Arney and Nannie Patton Houck. Joe was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Shirley Toney Arney of the home; a son, Johnny Arney of Morganton; a daughter, Carolyn Lail of Morganton; a granddaughter, Christy Clark and husband, Charlie, of Nebo, NC; great-grandchildren, Jessie and Emma Clark; a brother, Willie Arney of Marion, NC; and sisters, Catherine Grady of Morganton and Sarah Smith of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Park Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
