Joe Clarence Yancey

Joe Clarence Yancey, 80, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born on March 20, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late Joseph Clarence Yancey and Parlie Griggs Yancey. Mr. Yancey was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Lincolnton. He was retired from Deitz Motor Lines as a truck driver. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working outdoors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Smith; his second wife, Bonnie Yancey; sons, Joseph and Paul Yancey; step-son, Kenneth Carswell; sisters, Donnie Walker and Ethel Tallent.
Surviving are sons, Johnny Yancey of Shelby, NC, Bobby Yancey and wife, Kaye of Forest City, NC, Billy Yancey and wife, Denise of Shelby, NC, Ernest and Jessie Yancey all of Shelby, NC; daughters, Della Barnes and husband, Roger of Shelby, NC, Darlene Callahan and husband, Scottie of Fort Mills, SC, Doria Hudgens of Forest City, NC, Lu Howard and husband, Charles of Booneville, NY, Rosie Mayhue and husband, Eric of Shelby, NC; step-sons, Alford, Edward and Jerry Carswell; step-daughters, Brenda Nallie and Linda Annison; 28 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Gravesides services will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Scotty Callahan officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:30 at Sossoman Funeral Home. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
