John Alfred Dockery, Sr.

John Alfred Dockery, Sr., 71, of Morganton, NC died on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on January 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Erastus Woodrow Dockery and Dollie Henrietta Farr Dockery.
Mr. Dockery was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church and loved to fish.
Mr. Dockery is survived by his wife, Sue Milligan Dockery; two children, John Alfred Dockery, Jr. of Morganton and Wendy Dockery Lawson and Roland of Hot Springs, NC; two grandchildren, Reagan Dockery and Grace Lawson; a sister, Sara Vicente of Morganton; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Brown and Stacy Lawson; nieces, Cassi Dellinger and Andromeda Fry; and nephew Arcturus Fry.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at Catawba Valley Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Odom and Rev. Allen Curtis officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
