John C. Davies

John C. Davies, 69, of Morganton passed peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014. He was born August 17, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico to the late Thomas Llewellyn Davies, Jr. and Charmian Eileen Bloom Davies.
John grew up in Falls City, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University. John was a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army. He was an avid Cornhusker fan and vintage car enthusiast. John was a manufacturing engineering manager for Continental Teves for 28 years. After retiring 10 years ago he was actively involved in various local non-profit organizations.
John is survived by his wife, Beverly Shelton Davies; son, John E. Davies and wife Jill of Cleveland, OH; step-sons, Steve Chappell of New York, NY and Benjamin Weigand and wife Estella of Portland, OR; brothers, David Davies and wife Susan of Omaha, NE and Donald Davies and wife Ann of Westford, MA; grandchildren, Adelaide Davies and Eloise Davies of Cleveland, OH and Andrew Weigand of Portland, OR and his beloved canine companion, Winston.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center, Morganton, NC with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
