John Ervin Setzer

John Ervin Setzer, 68, of Morganton, NC died Friday, January 8, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 4, 1947, he was the son of the late Arthur C. Setzer and Eva Brown Setzer.  John had attended Muddy Creek Baptist Church.  He worked at Cut Right Frames, Hickory Hill Furniture, and Morganton Dye and Finishing.

John is survived by his children, Johnny Lee Setzer and his wife, Kim, of Longview, NC, Ralph Setzer and his companion, Amanda Riddle, of Morganton, Joann Smith and her husband, David, of Chesterfield, NC, and Sondra Crocker and her husband, Scotty, of Spruce Pine, NC; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Mary Ann Freeman and her husband, Bill, of Morganton and Eva Ray Hauson and her husband, Roy, of Roanoke, VA.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Setzer was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Lee Honeycutt Setzer; his second wife, Margaret Ann Smith Setzer; brothers, Ralph Setzer and Arthur Setzer; sisters, Shirley Fleming, Nancy Brown, and Barbara Setzer; and a baby brother.

The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Park Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating.  The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
