John H. "J.B." Branch, 76, of Vine St., Morganton, NC died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 3, 1931 in Burke County, and was a son of the late William Hamilton Branch and Anne Byrd Branch. John was a member of First United Methodist Church, and served in the US Army during the Korean War.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mabe Branch of the home; daughters, Janice Branch and Patricia Branch Williams, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Brittainy Branch, Andrew Williams, and Smokye Williams, all of Morganton; and nephews, Richard Branch of Morganton, and Robert Branch of Burnsville, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Neal Branch.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Sydnor Thompson, III officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3 pm at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Janice Branch, 107 Rhyne St., Morganton, NC 28655. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Keepers Seniors Fund, 200 N. King St., Morganton, NC 28655.
