John “J.H.” Farr, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. Born in Twiggs County, GA on February 28, 1927, he was the son of the late John Henry Farr and Allice Floyd Farr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having served aboard the USS Harry Bauer. J.H. was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church and worked for many years at Henredon Furniture.
Mr. Farr is survived by his granddaughter, Angela Brown and husband, Bobby, of Morganton; grandsons, Jimmy and Tommy Farr, both of NC; and a sister, Frances Parker of TN.
In addition to his parents, J.H. was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Kerley Farr; sons, Jimmy and Tommy Farr; a daughter, Brenda Killian; and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Catawba Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Ward officiating.
