John Linville Greene

John Linville Greene, 81, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Burke Hospice following a period of declining health. He was born in Watauga County on May 17, 1927 and was a son of the late Leonard and Maggie Watson Greene. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Gantt Greene; four brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Greene retired from Broughton Hospital after 30 years of service. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife, Flavia Logan York Greene, of the home; a daughter and her husband, Maria and Chuck Lowdermilk, of Morganton; a sister, Blanche Shoemake, of Boone; and grandchildren, Sara and Paul Benfield, of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home, 3958 Bel Aire Dr., Morganton.
