John "Obie" Buff

John "Obie" Buff, 67, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Grace Hospital, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on June 5, 1944, he was the son of the late John A. Buff and Swannie Causby Buff. John retired from the City of Morganton after thirty years of service. He and his wife loved the mountains and camping at Maggie Valley.Obie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Louise Swink Buff of the home; sons, Keith Buff and wife, DeShane, Kenneth Buff and wife, Sherry, and Sherman Buff and wife, Michelle, all of Morganton; grandchildren, J.P., Brooke, Sha, Brandon, Miranda, and Kenneth A. Buff; great-grandchildren, Zach Ward, Jade Williams, Sidney Williams, and Chloe Buff; and siblings, Woodrow Buff and wife, Marie, of Morganton, Shirley McDaniels and husband, Jim, of Glen Alpine, NC, and Darlene Waters of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Ellington and Mr. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
