John William Huffman

John William Huffman, 91, of Burke Memorial Park Rd., Valdese, NC, passed Saturday, May 19, 2007 at College Pines Nursing Home in Valdese. Born in Burke County, NC on July 24, 1915, he was the son of the late Miles Huffman and Sallie McNeely Huffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, (twin) James Robert, Obie, and Alvin Huffman; half-brother, Pine Huffman; sister, Fannie Mae Huffman; and half-sister, Flossie Mull. John was a member of the First Baptist Church Deaf Mission and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Co. after 47 years.He is survived by his sister, Vera Swink of Morganton, NC; a half-brother, Clarence Huffman of Hickory, NC; caregivers, Pam and Buddy Crowder, Kaitlyn and Kristie Crowder; and a number of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Morganton with Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church parlor Tuesday from 3:00 until 4:00 pm.
