Johnnie W. Holleman, 81, of Morganton died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born December 12, 1929 in Yadkin County, NC, he was a son of the late Willie Sanford Holleman and Florence Holleman Gough. He was a retired supervisor from St. Joe’s Steele Company in Pennsylvania. Johnnie was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and was a member of the Bellevue Hunting Club.He is survived by a son, Jimmy Holleman of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Lynn Ann Holleman Durr and husband, Dale of Pennsylvania; step-children, Wilma Thompson Parsons and Judy Thompson Reed, both of Morganton, and Linda Thompson Stamey of Newton; a brother, Dallas R. Holleman and wife, Pat of Greensboro; sisters, Etta Mae Maynard of Winston-Salem and Pam Patton of Lenoir; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha Newton Holleman; brothers, Willie N. Holleman and Spencer Gough; and sister, Kitty Maness.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Cliff Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
