Johnny Burrell West

Johnny Burrell West, 78, of Valdese passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021.  He was born in Cherokee County, NC on June 19, 1943.  Johnny loved his family; they were his main priority.  Johnny owned and operated Johnny’s Tire Service and Johnny West Towing.  He enjoyed having children around while working at his place of business.  Johnny also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing.

Mr. West is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Calhoun West; daughters, Tammy Camp (Barry) and Tonya Ross (Alan); grandchildren, Kristin Ramsey (Jerome), Dustin Camp (Leah), Clay Ross (Maranda), and Emily Coulter (Jason); seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry West (Geri); sister, Joan Carswell; eleven nephews; and ten nieces.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Charley Glen West; mother, Myrtle Sherrill West; three brothers, Jack, Teddy, and Tommy West; and four sisters, Marie Buff, Reba Howell, Delores Rector, and Carolyn Franklin.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 at The Rising Church.  The graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronnie LeFevers and Pastor Barry Camp officiating.
