Johnny Guy Propst

Johnny Guy Propst, 76, of Morganton, NC passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, June 6, 2010. He was born June 7, 1934 to the late Cullen and Emma Propst of Morganton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Woodrow Propst; brothers, Clyde Propst, Melvin Propst, Leroy Propst, and Marvin Propst; and a sister, Clarissa Propst Watts.Johnny had a lifelong love of tractors and spent his days fixing them, riding them, or telling stories about them. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, rarely missing a chance to watch a televised game, although rarely stayed awake long enough to see the end. He met the love of his life in 1968 and spent his last 42 years by her side raising their family and enjoying spending time with all of those they loved.Johnny is survived by his wife, Janis Jones Propst of Morganton; sons, Clint Propst and wife, Annye, of Charlotte, NC, Jason Propst and wife, Marta, of Charleston, SC, and Mark Propst of AR; daughters, Kimberly Propst Stidham and husband, Keith, of Travelers Rest, SC and Susan Morgan of Kingman, AZ; ; grandchildren, Joey Reid, Shannon Reid, and Sarah Morgan; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Morgan; and a sister, Cleo Watts, and husband, Will, of Morganton.A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Burl Sain officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
