Joie Parker Dayberry, 90, of Hildebran, NC passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on April 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Andrew “Bill” Parker and Nadie Chapman Parker. Joie was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. In her earlier years, Mrs. Dayberry worked at the Toluca Clinic and also as a beautician. She loved to garden and grow flowers.
Joie is survived by her daughters, Joyce Hubbard and husband, Milburn, of Morganton and Betty Corder of Morganton and boyfriend, Greg Lane of Rutherfordton, NC; a grandson, Andrew Corder; brothers, W. A. Parker and wife, Ruth, of Morganton and Ray Dean Parker of Connelly Springs, NC; and sisters, Buna Lane of Taylorsville, NC, Eunice McCoy of Morganton, Aileen Attaway of Morganton, and Mary McNeilly of Morganton.
In addition to her parents, Joie was preceded in death by her husband, William Elijah Dayberry; brothers, Jesse Lee Parker, Eugene Parker, William Zane Parker, and Robert Furman Parker; and sisters, Beulah Mae Parker and Julie Ann Parker.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. M. Doyle Holder, Th.D. officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
