José Sic, 17, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 16, 2018 due to a medical condition.
Born in Burke County, NC on November 17, 2001, he was the son of Hector José Sic and Juliana Pedro Bernabe, both of Morganton. He was survived by his sisters of the home, Maria Priscila Sic and Ana Noemi Sic; and his dog, Leo “Messi” Sic. José was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where he was an altar server. José participated in the Catholic Heartwork Camp, volunteered with the Burke United Christian Ministries Soup Kitchen, and was the member of the Boy Scouts. He was a junior at Freedom High School and a student at Western Piedmont Community College. José played soccer for his school, the Catawba Valley Youth Soccer Association, and Burke Blast. José also enjoyed swimming, baseball, track, and cross country running.
José is also survived by his grandparents, Catarina and Daniel Pedro; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2018 in the gymnasium at Freedom High School. In honor of José’s love of sports, please dress in your sports attire. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 24 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
