Joseph Carlos Buff

Joseph Carlos Buff, 77, of Morganton, NC, died Saturday, February 23, 2019. He was born on August 9, 1941 in Burke County to the late Joseph C. Buff and Lucy Grace Walker Buff. He was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. His hobbies included painting cars and making them look new again. Carlos loved gardening, baking pies and cakes. He worked at Plants 3 and 5 at Drexel Furniture. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Louise Carpenter; brother-in-law, Donald Carswell; son-in-law, Robert Tolbert.

Carlos is survived by his wife, Frances Buff of 57 years; children, Bobbie Tolbert of Morganton, Jennifer McDaniel (Toky) of Lynchburg, VA, and Michelle Buff of Morganton; brothers, Ernest Buff, James Buff (Mary Ann), Paul Buff (Christine), and Dean Buff (Sandra) all of Morganton; sisters, Ann Hughes (Richard) of Marion, NC, Thelma Franklin (Michael) and Judy Carswell, both of Morganton; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Harvey Carpenter.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Way of the Cross Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 12 noon in the church with the Rev. Richard Ellington officiating. Burial will follow at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Bobbie Tolbert.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
