Joseph Stuart Ramsey

Joseph Stuart Ramsey, Jr., 82, of Connelly Springs, NC died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his residence. Born July 28, 1931 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph Stuart Ramsey and Pearl Carswell Ramsey. Joseph was a member and deacon of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Lawndale. He taught both elementary and high school in the Burke County School system for 30 years. Joseph was an avid golfer and gardener.Joseph is survived by his children, David Ramsey and wife, Leslie, and Amy Dobert and husband, Jody, all of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Kelly Ramsey and wife, Jolene of Spencer, IN, Mindy Howe and husband, Brady of Rapid City, SD, Alexander Ramsey of Granby, CO, and Ila Dobert of Connelly Springs; and a sister, Juanita Ramsey of Connelly Springs.In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Davis Ramsey.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Allan Barlow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
