Joshua Caleb Roper, 22, of Morganton died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born December 15, 1988 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of Dennis Roper of Morganton and Barbara Skipper Herrick of Hickory.In addition to his parents, Joshua is survived by a son, Ian Caleb Roper of Morganton; a brother, Bo Skipper of Hickory; grandparents, grandfather, Jerry ?Paw Paw? Skipper of Chesnee, SC, grandparents, Bill and Evelyn Proctor of Marion, grandfather, James Roper of Morganton, great-grandmother, Cordie Skipper of Rutherfordton, step-grandmother, Lynn Thompson of Chesnee, and step-great-grandparents, Bill and Mary Proctor of Morganton; girlfriend, Kristina Abernathy of Morganton; aunts, Betty Causby and Cassie Proctor, both of Morganton; and an uncle, Chad Roper of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Joshua was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Jackie Proctor and Betty Roper; and an uncle, Gerald Skipper.A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Darvy Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
