Joyce Smith Woolard

Joyce Smith Woolard, 78, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 following a period of declining health. She was born in Beaufort County, NC on December 13, 1934 and was a daughter of the late George Washington Smith and Thelma Lee Bennett Smith. Mrs. Woolard was a graduate of East Carolina University and a member of Old Ford Church of Christ in Washington, NC.Surviving are her son, Dennis Woolard, III and his wife, Kim; her daughter, Sally W. Sandy and her husband, Joseph; and three grandchildren, Samantha Woolard, and Joey and Patrick Sandy, all of Morganton. She is also survived by a brother, Delma Smith and his wife, Mary of Chocowinity, NC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Sue Harris of Morrisville, NC, Sonny and Frances Swain of Greenville, NC, Bill and Kathy Woolard of Atlantic Beach, NC, and Reba Smith of Chocowinity; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Woolard, Jr.; brothers, Otha and Dennis Smith, her twin sister, Loyce Godley and her husband, Max; and by sister, Evelyn Lilley.The family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton and on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Hillside Funeral Home in Washington, NC.
