Joyce “Sue” Ledford

Joyce “Sue” Ledford, 74 of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends. Born on December 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lowell and Lucy DeVinney. Sue was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She loved her church dearly. Sue enjoyed being with her family and reading. She was known for her grace and being nonjudgmental. There was not anyone she couldn’t get along with and looked out for the best in people. Sue was the valedictorian of her high school and college class. 

Sue is survived by her husband of 57 years, Philip Ledford; daughters, Karen Ledford Clark (Eddie), Jennifer Ellen Ledford-Wallace (Peter James); grandchildren, Courtney, Jarrain (deceased), Cameron, Rebecca, Meagan, Noah, Joseph; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Emery; sisters, Wilma Church, Janie Nestor; brothers, Eddie DeVinney, Larry DeVinney; special friends, Debbie Benfield, Charles Rhodes.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Grace Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
