Judy Ann Lindsay

Judy Ann Lindsay, 62, of Hilltop Street, Morganton, NC, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 24, 2009 at her residence. Born in Burke County, NC on January 6, 1947, she was the daughter of Hazel Dale Lindsay of Morganton and the late William Marvin Lindsay. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and graduated from Morganton High School in 1965. Judy was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an International Service Organization. She was a devoted, active member for 43 years, served in all capacities of the sorority, and received many awards. Judy received the highest degree awarded to a member, the Preceptor Degree.In addition to her mother, Judy is survived by her nephews, Corey Leonard and Jake Lee Leonard, both of Morganton; a great-niece, Raven Dayne Leonard of Morganton; a brother-in-law, David Leonard of Morganton; a God-daughter, Katie Wellmon Sessions of Conway, SC; numerous cousins, and an aunt.In addition to her father, Judy was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Leonard.A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
