Judy Berry Calhoun

Judy Berry Calhoun, 61, of Morganton, NC died on Friday, July 28, 2017. She was born on October 2, 1955 in Burke County to the late J. D. Berry and Edna Whisnant Berry. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and was the rock of the family. She was a very active member of Bible Baptist Church and loved her church. She enjoyed working outside in the yard and gardening. She also enjoyed going camping and fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Eddy Berry and sister, Brenda Moore.

Judy is survived by her husband, Tommy, of the home; daughter, Melissa Smith and husband, Teddy; grandson, Cody Smith; sisters, Carolyn Mace and husband Jerry, Darlene Taylor and husband, Ronnie, and Rama Maines and husband, Claude; a number of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Reba Berry; her canine companion, Emmie; special friends, Chris Ashley, Tim and Karen Suttles.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church. The service will be at 2:00pm at the church with Pastor Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 1238 Jamestown Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
