Judy May Kale, age 72, of Boone, NC passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Judy was born in Lee County on August 19, 1948 to the late William Marvin May and the late Lizzie Watson May.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lawson Kale, her parents William Marvin May and Lizzie Watson May, and two brothers Buddy May and J.T. May. She is survived by 2 sons, Michael Allen and wife Debbie of Hope Mills, NC and Timmy Allen and wife Kay of Lumberton, NC; a daughter Donna Hunsinger and husband Scott of Boone, NC; seven grandchildren: Tracy McKinley, Meghan Pool, Madison Ashe, Lauren Hunsinger, Bryan Hunsinger, Mallori Allen, and Emily Kale; one great grandchild Eliza Privette; 2 brothers Roy May and Jerry May both of Lumberton, NC, and Earl May of Sanford, NC; 3 sisters, Ann Gales of Lumberton, NC, Lib Shaw of Southern Pines, NC, and Frances Franks of Columbus, Ga.

Our beloved Mom grew up in Sanford and Lumberton, NC. She moved to Harrisburg, NC and later to Boone, NC where she resided with her daughter. She received her Associate Degree in Accounting from Robeson Technical College in Lumberton, NC. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for Lawson Development Company and a home maker until she retired.

Judy loved the Lord, going to the beach, gardening, traveling, sunsets, snow falling, bird watching, eating chocolate and ice cream, drinking cokes and Starbucks coffees, shopping, reading books, the color pink, listening to music, watching Hallmark movies, laughing, but most importantly she loved life itself and spending time with her family and friends. She courageously fought her cancer battle for 15 years like a warrior with the strength of a super hero. Judy was a hero in all of our eyes. We were amazed by her tenacity and determination to keep fighting cancer with all that she had in her. She remained her sassy and snazzy self during her treatments and entertained all the staff at Levine Cancer Center during her chemotherapy with lots of laughter and love. She continued to encourage and take care of those around her even though she was dealing with cancer herself. Judy was a treasure on this earth and will be missed immensely by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy's honor to the Watauga County Humane Society at 312 Paws Way Boone, NC 28607 or to the American Cancer Society at www. cancer. org

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
