Julia "Jo" Bass Browning

Julia "Jo" Bass Browning, 83, of Valdese, NC died Monday, July 16, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on April 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James "Jack" Bass and Pearl Burgin Bass. Jo was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She loved flowers and the local mountains.Jo is survived by her daughter, Julia Browning Greer and her husband, William; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jo Harris and her husband, William; a grandson, Kevin Boyd Greer and his wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Lexus Nicole Waldroup, William Bryson Harris, Makayla Renee Greer, and Makenzie Erin Greer; brothers, James "Jimmy’ Bass and his wife, Margaret, and George Bass and his wife, Chris; sisters, Lula Mae Roberts and her husband, Rom, and Martha Francis Bass Rector and her husband, Marshall; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Browning, and a granddaughter, Julia Maureen Greer.The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will be held in Burke Memorial Park at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt.
