Julis Monroe “Bud” Clark, 88, of Morganton died Saturday, February 28, 2015. Bud was born June 10, 1926 in Lincoln County to the late Willie Monroe Clark and Minnie Honeycutt Clark. He was a veteran of the US Army and the US Navy serving in World War II and the Korean War. Julis was devoted to his family and enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the mountains.
In addition to his family, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Clark; step-daughter, Shirley Cook, and sisters, Willie Gilleland and Mabel Bryant,
Bud is survived by his step-children, Paul Smith and wife, Evelyn of Connelly Springs and Joann McClellan of Morganton; grandchildren, Betty Burk, Paul D. McClellan and wife, Donna, and Angie Clay and husband, Tim all of Morganton, Michael Cook and wife, Angela, Susan Willis and husband, Johnny, and Bobby Cook and wife, Angel, all of Lincolnton; nieces, Linda Leatherman and Geraldine Brown, both of Lincolnton, and Diane Cauthen of Maiden; and special caretakers, Geisha Benfield, Keith Hunt and Betty Robinson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Reverends Ricky Conners and Billy Forbes officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Hollybrook Cemetery in Lincolnton. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
