Julius Roy Brown, Jr., 75, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, January 27, 2017. He was born in Burke County, NC on August 10, 1941 and was the son of the late Julius Roy Brown, Sr. and Ethel Mae Arrowood Brown. Roy loved his family, fishing, his dog, “Baby” and telling jokes. He was good working with his hands.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Brown, Wayne Brown, and Johnny Brown; and grandson, Christopher Herrick.
Roy is survived by his wife, Brenda Ford Brown; children, Judy Brown Johnson and husband, Tim of Burnsville, J.R. Brown, III of Georgia, Angel Brown Saunders and husband, Larry of Morganton, Randy Brown of Morganton, Stephanie Brown of Concord, Georgianna Brown of Midland, and Jessica Elledge of Concord; a sister, Joan Powell and husband, Lloyd; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Phillip Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
