June York Patton Biggs

June York Patton Biggs, 68 of Morganton passed from this earth on Saturday August 21, 2021. She was born May 5, 1953 and was the daughter of the late Robert Logan Patton, III and Minnie Mae Harbison Patton. She was the granddaughter of the late Robert Logan Patton, Jr and Bess Hallyburton Patton and the late Alexander Leighton Harbison and Junie York Harbison.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Biggs and two granddaughters, Parker Mae Colandria and Alexa Paige June Colandria of Morganton; two brothers, Robert L. Patton, IV and wife, Linda Scarlett Patton of Morganton, N. C. and Paul Alexander Patton and wife, Vickie Martin Patton of Burlington, N. C.; one nephew, Lt. Col. USAF Ret. Robert L. Patton, V and wife, Stephanie of Monument, Colorado; four nieces, Jill Scarlett Patton Fleming and husband, Shawn of Advance, N. C., “Bess” Elizabeth Ann Patton and wife, Heather Triplett, their son, Isaac Logan Triplett,  Kim Patton Swaim and husband, Joe of Graham, N. C., Stacey Patton Steelmon, of Burlington, N. C.; three grandnephews, Zack and Justus Steelmon and Alexander Ray Fleming; one grandniece, Isabella Mae McQueen.

Mrs. Biggs attended Morganton City Schools and graduated from Morganton High School in 1972. She graduated from Western Piedmont Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science (Mental Health) and from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. She was employed at Broughton Hospital, Sterling Tire, CNC Access, Food Lion and Western Carolina Center.

June had a strong faith in Jesus, was an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to music, especially the piano. She loved her granddaughters, enjoyed reading to them and telling them stories about her growing up.

A Celebration of June’s life will be held at a future date due to COVID-19. Her ashes will be interred at the Columbarium of the First United Methodist Church, Morganton, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Morganton, N.C.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
