Katherine P. Wilson

Katherine P. Wilson, 95, of Morganton went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 23, 2017.  Born in Rowan County, NC on April 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frank Powell and Kate Burns Powell.  Mrs. Wilson was an active member of First Baptist Church in Morganton and had taught Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church.  She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII and worked at Shadowline, Piedmont Natural Gas, and Inmont.  She was active in the community and had volunteered at the Old and New Shop.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Wilson is survived by her children, Dean Wilson and wife, Anne, of Morganton, Don Wilson and wife, Kathy, of Morganton, and Linda Wilson Hindman and husband, Wayne, of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Diana Wilson, Amy Clarke Burns, Jana Wilson, Nathan Clark, and Jameson Clark; great-grandchildren, Riley Clark, Morgan Clark, Gage Mealor, Matt Burns, Darby Burns, and Brantley Clark; and a sister, Doris of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Wilson; brothers, William and Alfred; and sisters, Azalee, Hope, Maxine, Ruby, and Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
