Katherine Rockett Head

Katherine Rockett Head, 91, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Grace Ridge Health Care Center following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on August 14, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Luther Theodore Rockett and Ola Mae Orders Rockett. Katherine was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service.She is survived by her daughter, Frances Head Clark and husband, Kenneth, of Swansboro, NC; grandchildren, Gary Neal Clark and wife, Connie of Morganton and Cammie Clark Lampkin and husband, Wesley of Hickory, NC; great-grandchildren, Abbie and Joshua Lampkin; a sister, Clara R. Smith and husband, Glenn, of West Point, GA; a brother-in-law, Carl Anderson of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Estaleen Rocket of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd "Bill" Head; a brother, James T. "J.T." Rockett; and sisters, Wilhemina R. Anderson, Annie Mable Rockett, and Iris R. Maye.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Dr. Sydnor Thompson, III officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
