Kathy Dianne Carswell

Kathy Dianne Carswell, 64, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, October 8, 2016. She was born on July 12, 1952 in Burke County and was the daughter of the late Edna Dorothy Carswell. She loved spending time with her family especially her babies, Connor and Isabella. Kathy loved cooking for her family and scouting for deer with her uncle, John. She was a star basketball player for Salem High School. Kathy ran Hushpuppy Restaurant for 22 years. She worked for Bartle Chiropractic Center for 23 years and was currently employed at Foothills Correction Center. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rose Velt and Zennie Smith Carswell; uncles, Marvin Carswell and Frank Carswell; aunts, Cathleen Carswell, Ella Mae Chapman Carswell, and Ruby Carswell Watson; and first cousin, Ricky Allen Carswell.
She is survived by uncle, John Ervin Carswell; god child, April Rose Carswell Deyton and husband, Johnny Ray; god sons, Jesse Ervin Peeler and wife, Macayla, and Connor James Deyton; great god daughter, Isabella Peeler; cousins, Karen Walker and husband, Thomas and Theresa Watson Robbins and husband, Jimmy; special friend, Troy Byrd; and a number of extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to South Mountain Children’s Home, 7330 Myrtle Dr., Nebo, NC 28761. At other times the family will be at the home of John Carswell.
