Katie Williams Coffey, 100, of Morganton passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017. Born in Bonneville County, ID on January 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Addie Williams. Katie was a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church and attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church. She retired from Broughton Hospital after 30 years of service. She loved to crotchet, bake, and read.
Katie is survived by 3 daughters, Carol Lee Walters and husband, Ronald, of Gastonia, NC, Betty Jo McMahan and husband, Rev. Stanley, of Burnsville, NC, and Wanda Scott and husband, David, of Morganton; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 2 special canine companions, Boo and Popcorn.
In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee Coffey; a grandson, D.J. Scott; a sister, Nancy Walker; a brother, Mannie Williams; and 4 step-sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Stanley McMahan and the Rev. Elaine Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
