Visitation
Ken “Bubba” Cooper, 69, of Morganton went to be with his father and brother on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Born in Edgefield County, SC on August 30, 1949, he was the son of Lena Hennessee Cooper and the late Jessie Calvin Cooper. Bubba worked for over 30 years at Premiere Hosiery and retired from Broughton Hospital.
In addition to his mother, Bubba is survived by his daughter, Tahera Cooper DeVinney and her fiancé, Chanin Hildebran of Morganton; grandchildren, Andrew, Cooper, and Madison DeVinney; bonus “grandson” Cory Whisnant; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Gabe DeVinney; brothers, Charles M. Cooper and Gary R. Cooper (Mary Anna); sister, Lisa Amrhein (Scott); many nieces and nephews; bonus family Tonette ONeil; her children, DJ, Anthony and Aleijah; grandson, Tyeson; and his beloved friend, Dianne Whisenant.
Bubba was preceded in death by his father and a brother, James Cooper.
Bubba was always busy cooking meals and sharing these with others. He loved getting people together. He had a kind spirit that would always give to anyone in need. Bubba cherished time with his family and friends, especially his pride and joy, his daughter. He had a smile that lit up those around him and a sense of humor that made all those around him laugh. Bubba adored the beach and most of all, his trips to Florida visiting Paul, Carolyn Noles and their family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
