Kenneth William "Poochie" Causby

Kenneth William "Poochie" Causby, 59, of Ponderosa Rd. in Morganton died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born May 20, 1950 in Burke County, and was a son of the late Robert D. Causby and Zula Gates Causby. Kenneth was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and and a retired fire fighter with the Enola Fire Department. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Corporation where he had worked for 28 years. For many years, Kenneth also worked at the Morganton Tire Store.Kenneth is survived by his wife, Hazel Penley Causby of the home; a daughter, Heather Causby Brown and husband, Marty Brown, of Morganton; grandchildren, Macray, Raelyn, and Kerrigan Brown; a brother, Ted E. Causby and wife, Norma, of Valdese; sisters, Jo Ann Mills and husband, Bobby, and Linda Sue Wilson and husband, Wesley, all of Morganton; and sisters-in-law, Judy Causby of Valdese, and Jean Causby and Jettie Causby, both of Morganton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy, David, and Bill Causby.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
